Documental.xyz is an open-source platform for creating georeferenced investigative dossiers on human rights and environmental violations. We contributed to its early technical development, implementing the core infrastructure that powers the platform today.
Platform
We built scrollytelling features and custom Mapbox integrations that transform complex datasets – satellite imagery, testimonies, documents, and media – into interactive visual narratives. The platform functions as a CMS for investigators, allowing journalists, NGOs, and researchers to create geo-located dossiers without advanced coding knowledge. Documental.xyz is now independently maintained by agência autônoma and MediaLab UFRJ, supporting investigations across Latin America.
Recognition
Recognized by Forensic Architecture for its role in spatial investigations documenting human rights abuses and environmental destruction.
